An absolute classic twenty piece (!!!) Navajo hand tooled concho belt from the 1940's featuring Bisbee spiderweb turquoise settings. This beautiful belt sets buckle, conchos and butterflies edge to edge presenting a solid silver belt set atop a 1" leather harness strap of old Latigo leather which is invisible to the viewer of the belt. The turquoise settings are typically small during this era and are no larger than a 1/2" . The intense rich blue stones are classic Bisbee turquoise from Southern Arizona and seem to glow from within their settings. The stones exhibit wonderful "chocolate" spiderweb patterns and are in great shape for their age. The stamp work and dye struck central ovals on both the conchos and butterflies are masterfully executed. These are the first butterflies (ten of them!) that I have seen with oval dye struck scalloped centers as they are usually only found on the silver conchos. This belt has to be seen first hand to be fully appreciated as it presents a powerful uninterrupted image of silver, blue stone and impeccable Navajo silver work. Each concho measures is 3 1/8" x 2 3/4" and there are nine of them. Each butterfly is an 1 3/4" x 2 1/8" and there are ten of them. The buckle is 3 3/4" x 3 1/8". From buckle edge to the last butterfly is 40" long. With an additional 9 1/2" of leather belt. The belt can be adjusted smaller or larger by sliding the conchos. Belt weight 508 grams. Well over a pound in silver. Tested as sterling silver.
