My name is Rachel Uchizono.  I started collecting Native American jewelry when I was ten years old.  The older style jewelry is what attracts me. Cerrillos turquoise and it's deep greens and blues can be found in early 1920-1930's bracelets, rings and earrings. These pieces are getting harder to find.  I also collect some beadwork and Victorian coral jewelry.

Our Story

In 2000 I moved to Laguna Beach, CA. and started painting en plein air, which means to paint outside.  Laguna Beach is famous for it's art colonies.  Painting the canyons and beaches was a social experience and I met very talented artists.  Within a year I was at John Eagle's Studio 7 Gallery where I exhibited until 2020.  I also exhibited at the Sawdust Festival for twenty years.  In 2016 I moved to Roanoke, VA and began restoring Victorian homes and buildings.
I founded my store Uchizono Gallery in 2009 after a catastrophic accident left me with broken arms and a broken leg.  I sat at the computer and learned how to buy and sell online.  Gallery Zono is my new store on Shopify. The store carries vintage Zuni and Navajo pieces and modified earrings.  I also offer my paintings as I paint them. My paintings are in an impressionist style.  I paint from nature and I love iconic images such as my taxidermy peacock with Chinese lanterns posed in the garden.
